COURSE DESCRIPTION

This two-day (16-hour) course is designed to provide patrol officers, SROs, and special response teams with the skills necessary to rapidly deploy

and effectively utilize a ballistic shield during the first critical minutes of a high-risk incident. Students will develop the ability to fight, move,

communicate, and make decisions behind a shield-both individually and as part of a small team-through a combination of live-fire range work

and reality-based CQB and exterior movement scenarios.

8 HOURS LIVE FIRE RANGE

• Shield fundamentals and techniques

• One & two-handed pistol operation

• Reloads and malfunctions behind shield

• Movement, angles, and communication

• Integration with cover officer

• Live fire drills

8 HOURS TEAM MOVEMENTS

• Interior & exterior movement concepts

• Threshold management

• Deliberate CQB movements

• Confined/open environment tactics

• Vehicle approaches and transitions

• Scenario-based training

Prerequisites: Active Peace officer

Equipment:

• Plate Carrier / Helmet (if issued)

• Agency Issued Shield

• Duty Belt, Pistol, and Rifle

• 350 Rounds Pistol Ammo (FMJ)

• 100 Rounds Rifle Ammo (FMJ)

• Sim Gun / Sim Ammo

• Eye and Ear Protection
